Love Ninja

Hey everyone.  It's been awhile that I've played along with the Hambo Hoedown. So I thought I'd start playing again.  The challenge is twice a month now.  The challenge this time is "Use an animal" on your project.  I have a few different animals from Hambo Stamps.  I chose to use a bunny.  And since Valentine's day will be here soon.  I went with that theme.  I know you're saying..."Bunnys are Easter."  Well not if he's a Ninja Bunny.

Snowy Bookmark

I'm back. I can't believe I missed the last Hambo Hoedown challenge.  It was the first one I didn't play along with since I started  almost a year ago.  The challenges are now bi-monthly.  The current challenge runs until Monday Dec 16th.  And this time it's not a card.  It's to make a "Bookmark".  So here's mine.

Here's my card.

There's a new challenge at the Hambo Hoedown. The challenges are now bi-monthly.  A new challenge comes out the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.  This time the challenge is to use a non-traditional image for a baby card.
Here is what I came up with.

Going a Little Batty

"I want to bite your neck."  Actually I want to invite you to play along this week at the Hambo Hoedown. This week the challenge is a Sketch challenge.  And the freebie, if you played along last week and used a Hambo image, is Fat Bat.  Having a sketch challenge can be fun because the layout is given to you.  I liked this sketch.

And here is what I made.

Popcorn Time

Let's all go to the mo-vies.  Let's all go to the mo-vies. Let's all go to the mo-vies. But first I'll join the Hoe-down.  I think you should do the same. Join the fun at the Hambo Hoedown. This week there's a new freebie if you played along (and used a Hambo image) last week.  This week the image is "Wee Henrietta Popcorn" She's so cute with her bucket of popcorn.  And this week's challenge is to "Pop up those designs with dimension".  This was pretty easy for me since I seem to always pop up my main image.  So I wanted to make something a little different.

Sentiment-Wee Henrietta Popcorn by Hambo Stamps

I decided to make a slid out card. I hand drew the popcorn and popped it up on the sentiment panel. I created the pattern for the popcorn box and cut it out of card stock.  I popped up Wee Henrietta on 2 layers of homemade black foam squares so it would be above the popcorn layer.  I also popped up Henrietta's hands and popcorn on more black foam squares.  This card has some dimension!

I am also entering my card in the challenge at

Happy Hamster

Time for the newest weekly challenge at the Hambo Hoedown.  This week's challenge is to use "Decorative Scissors" on your project.  They always come up with some great and different challenges. And they make you dig out stuff that hasn't been used in awhile. One week's challenge was to use "eyelets".  And now it's "decorative scissors"! We all have them but they never get used.  After making this card, I see why I don't used them often.  I have a wooden rotating rack with 20 pair of scissors.  It never gets used.  I can never cut right with them.  But I broke them out for the challenge.

I paper pieced the hamsters shirt. (also DP from the Stack 8). The sentiment and image are popped up on homemade pink foam squares.
I thought it would be fun to color the hamster in pink.

So now it's your turn to break out and dust off those scissors that have been forgotten for so long.  Join in the fun.

Bunny Hug

Feeling down? Need a little pick me up?  I've got just the thing, a Big Bunny Hug for you. This week's image at the Hambo Hoedown is "Headband Bunny" and he wants to cheer you up.  This week's challenge was to use "Pink/Yellow/Grey" on your project.

I got the Wobble springs at a StampScrapArtTour show in July.  I had seen them used before and thought they were fun.  I thought this would be a great card to use one.  I couldn't get a pic of the bunny in action.  It looks really neat.

I am also entering my card at Freshly Made Sketches (#102) this week.  A new sketch comes out every Wednesday.  I've been following their site for a while.

Time again for the Hambo Hoedown and this week it's down on the farm.  The image this week is Bear Farmer and the challenge is "Anything Goes".  Sometimes when the challenge is open, it's hard to come up with ideas.  This week was like that.  That's why I'm posting so late.  But I hope I did okay.

Homework Journal

Well summer is almost over. And it's time for the kids to go back to school. My nephew started 3rd grade this week and my niece is now a junior in high school.  ( I remember when she was going to 3rd grade.)
So this week there's a new digital image at the Hambo Hoedown to go along with the "Back to School" theme.  It's "School Dog" and the challenge is to create a project that is "school themed".  This is what I made.

When I saw the image, I thought, this would be perfect for a "Homework Journal".  And that is what I made.

Stuff I Used:
Image-School Dog digital image by Hambo Stamps
Colored with Prismacolor Art Markers
Dog-PM-71, PM-69
Pencil-PM-17, PM-2, PM-72
Hat-PM-40, PM-17

Notebook-PM-40, PM-100
Sweater-PM-17, PM-40
Journal-Michaels 80 page journal

Homework title-Computer generated
DP-Recollections Back to School pack
Cardstock-Recollections Red
Gel Pen-Gelly Roll metallic gold, blue

I adhered the DP/cardstock to the cover with Rubber Cement. I popped up the image on homemade black foam squares.
This was a fun project and challenge.  If you've taken a break from crafting for the summer or if you haven't joined in the fun at the Hambo Hoedown.  Now that the kids are going back to school, join in.  You could win some great images.  Or even just get free images for playing along.

According to the plans, it's time for another challenge at the Hambo Hoedown.  This week's challenge is to "use something a carpenter would use" since this week's new image is "Carpenter".  This was a good challenge. At first I'm thinking ...screws, nails, glue.  Hummm This could be tough.  Then I came up with something.  What do you think?
