A Little Change of Plans

If you read my post yesterday, I said that there is a Sassy Studio Designs Hop scheduled for tomorrow (Sat Dec 28th).  Well things have changed.  There will not be a Hop this month.  BUT don't despair, there is something planned for all the loyal SSD followers.  And I think you're gonna like it.  Stayed tuned for more details as they become available.  As of right now, I think it has something to do with that word we all like... "Freebies".
Thank you for understanding and following my blog and the Sassy Studio Designs blog.

Ring in the New Year

Happy day after Christmas. Did everyone get everything they wanted?  Have you returned/exchanged everything you didn't? Hope you got lots of crafting supplies, because there are some great challenges coming at Sassy Studio Designs.  Why not finish out 2013 with the last Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge (#209) of the year.  This week's challenge is "Ring in the New Year" (make a New Year's project).
Here's what I made.

Something Fresh is Coming your Way

Hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to our Canadian friends. As if that wasn't enough excitement for one week, this Saturday is the December Hop at Sassy Studio Designs.
This picture just makes me want to slip on my skis and carve some turns in the powder.

There are no new image releases this month, so the challenge will be a bit different this time around.  But there is still a Hop of the Design Team's blogs.  Mark your calenders. I know you're tired of all the Holiday hustle and bustle. Then on Saturday, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, have a seat and Hop along with us.  If you leave a comment on all of the DT's blogs, you could win some terrific prizes.

A Shiny Christmas

It's less than a week until Christmas. And less than 2 weeks left in 2013.  Where did the year go?  I'm seeing stars! Which is good because it's time for the new Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge (#208) at Sassy Studio Designs.  And this week the challenge is "Sparkle and Shine" (use things that sparkle and shine, can be items or glitter, Stickles, etc...).
Here's my card.

Stuff I Used:
Image-Don't Open 'til Christmas Sassy digital by Sassy Studio Designs
Colored with Copics
Skin-E00, E11
Eyes-G03
Lips-R20, R22
Hair-E41, E43, E44
Earring-Sakura Silver metallic gel pen
Pants-B91, B95
Top-C1, C3, C5
Present-B91, B95, C1, C3, C5, Sakura clear glitter gel pen
DP-Recollections Starry Night pack
Cardstock-the Paper Company Rainy Day pack, Staples Grey
Ribbon-Michaels $1 bin Silver trim
Sentiment-Computer generated

My "shiny" elements are the DP, earring, ribbon on present, silver ribbon/trim.  I popped up the blue panel on homemade light blue foam squares.  And the image was popped up on more light blue foam squares.  I added a smaller image and more DP on the inside.  I liked that the DP pack had the same pattern in both the grey and the blue with silver.  That's how I got the idea to match and repeat the panel for the front.  There are a few patterns in the pack that are both in grey and blue/silver.  And it was a Hot Buy, so it was only $5!

Now it's your turn, break out all your supplies and make something for the challenge.  It doesn't have to be a Christmas card. What about all the cards you'll need for next year?

Remember, Santa is still watching and if you don't play along, he won't bring you everything you want.

Thanx for looking and please comment.

Candy Cane Box

Can you believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away?  Maybe I should start shopping!  I hope Santa got my list.  What does everyone one want this year?
Well it's that time of the week we all wait for.... Thursday.  And you know what that means.  It's time for the next Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge (#207 It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas (make a Christmas project)) at Sassy Studio Designs.  I decided to make something other than a card this time.

I made a Box

with the lid off

Here's what I started with.
cake mix box and the side of a brownie mix box (lid)
I covered the box  and lid with opaque white paper
I used toilet paper tubes for the rings
I sliced them and wound them tighter to fit the candy cane stick
candy cane stick (3/4" dia x 9 1/2" long)

DP-DCWV the Christmas Stack
Card stock-the Paper Company • Primary
Diecut-Spellbinders Classic Scallop Circle LG
Edge inking-Studio "g" pink

I used rubber cement to apply the white paper to the box and lid.  And to apply the green card stock and DP to the rings.  The rings are glued to the box with E-6000. (great stuff)  I popped up the image on homemade pink foam squares.

It was fun making this project. It's always fun to make something other than a card every once in a while.  I also made this.
a paper mache ornament I painted

Now I guess it's time to get shopping.  Where did I put everyone's lists?  Oh well, I guess everyone gets underwear and socks. hahaha

Snowy Bookmark

I'm back. I can't believe I missed the last Hambo Hoedown challenge.  It was the first one I didn't play along with since I started  almost a year ago.  The challenges are now bi-monthly.  The current challenge runs until Monday Dec 16th.  And this time it's not a card.  It's to make a "Bookmark".  So here's mine.

It's hard to believe that December is here already. Where did the year go? I'm just getting use to writing 2013! I hope I've inspired you to get out your papers and scissors (or knife like I like to use) and get piecing.
This time of year, we need more "Peace/Piece" on Earth.

Thanx for looking and please comment or you won't get any pie.  In fact, when you comment, let me know what's your favorite pie.
