Bailey Bunny

Do you know who the Easter Bunny's newest helper is?  It's Bailey at Hambo Stamps.  And he made this week's challenge at the Hambo Hoedown (here) to use "weaving" on your project.  If you play along and use a Hambo stamp on your project, you get the next week's image FREE.

I cut 1/4" strips of the DP and wove them to create the background.  I also used my Fiskars corrugater to create the woven design on the 2 yellow strips.  I popped up Bailey on homemade foam squares. Welcome Spring

I thought Spring was here for the year, but it was postponed yesterday after we got 5" of snow. It didn't bother me because I like plowing the lots at the office complex where my sister and mom work. But I still wanted to make a Spring card for the Some Odd Girl March challenge. See it here.  This month's sketch was:

When Some Odd Girl http://www.someoddgirlblog.com/ has new stamps come out, if you comment on the posts, you can win one of the new images.  That is how I acquired the "Watering Can Tia" image.  I won it! I love all their images.  They are great to color and so expressive. So here is my card.

Stuff I Used:
Image-Watering Can Tia digital stamp by Some Odd Girl

I popped up Tia on homemade foam squares.  And then popped up the sentiment banner more.

Well the snow is melting and I hate when it's all messy. But Sunday is Easter and I think Spring will stick around this time.  Then before we know it, the temperatures will be in the 90's and we'll be back in the house and the air conditioning. hahaha

A Paper Pieced Cake

Do you like to paper piece? Previously it was not one of my favorite techniques.  So when this week's DTBST challenge at Sassy Studio Designs was to "use paper piecing", I had to think for a while for a good image to use.  Then I remembered I had the "Unbirthday cake" from SSD. And since everyone pieces clothes on their images, I wanted to do something different.  I figured I could piece the decorations on the cake with different papers.  So here it is:

1st page of DPs
2nd page of DPs

card front

easel folded

inside

Stuff I Used:
Image-Unbirthday Cake by Sassy Studio Designs
Colored with Copics
B00, B41, C1, C3
Paper pieces-DCWV Stack 8
DP-DCWV Stack 8
Pearl decorations-Cra•Z•Art Metallic colors markers, Pentel white gel pen highlights
Cardstock-Recollections
Sentiment-Computer generated

After I printed the cake on the different DPs, I ran the pieces through my Xyron.  I cut out each piece and it was already sticky backed. Before I put the pieces on the cake, I colored the layers to add dimension.  I colored the pearls between the layers with metallic markers (that I got at "5 Below). Once all the pieces were attached, I added shading to give the pieces dimension.
I decided to make the card an easel card and have the cake pop off the front.  I added 5/8" circles of the DP used on the cake layers and shaded them.
I also added the background paper and circles to the inside along with the sentiment. I popped up the cake and sentiment panel on homemade foam squares.

Now I may do more paper piecing. We'll see.

Easter Scene

Wow 2 posts in 1 day! I need to spread these out. This time it's my card for {Pin}spirational Challenge #49. http://pinspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/2013/03/pinspirational-challenge-49.html
So much fun to use a pic every week as inspiration.  This week the pic looked like this:

Source: bhg.com via Deanne on Pintrest
And here is my take on the pic:

close up of Stickles and popped up egg

Stuff I Used:
Image-Scene it Easter digi by Bugaboo Stamps
Colored with Copics
Y13, Y15, Y17, YR04, YR07, C1, C3, C5, RV13, RV19, BV02, BV04, YG03, YG06
DP-DCWV the Glitter Mat Stack
Cardstock-Recollections
Corner punch-Fiskars 3 sided Flowers, 1/4" corner rounder
Stickles-Stardust
Ribbon-Just Enough 3 pack Spring
Foam egg-Holiday Inspirations Easter

I popped up the image on homemade foam squares and the egg up on more squares. And I was going through stuff and I found some Stickles.  So I thought... Let's add some sparkle to the big egg's dots and the little egg's stripe to match the glitter on the DP.

This was a fun card to create.  Can't wait to see what next week's inspiration pic.  In the mean time, I'm off to find more of one of  my official favorite Easter staples.....Peeps!

Easter Bunny

It's that time for one of my favorite foods. PEEPS!  Only 1 week 'til Easter.  This week at the Hambo Hoedown the image was a great bunny with a chick and basket. I love their site. http://hambochallenges.blogspot.com/
If you play along and use a Hambo image, you get the next image for free.
This week's challenge was to use your favorite embellishments. So I used buttons with embroidery floss, ribbon, faux stitching, and foam squares.

Birthday Cheers

I wanted to do something different when given the challenge of using "green" on a card and it's around St. Patrick's  Day.  So I went with a Birthday card. When I saw the "Martini Pin up" from Sassy Studio Designs and saw the olives, I thought great use of green. So that's how I came up with my card this week for Sassy Studio Designs "Dare to be Sassy Thursdays" #168. See it Here.

Shamrock Fold Out

Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone.  This week's pic at {Pin}spirational Challenges (#48) had a St Pat's feel to it. http://pinspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/   Here's the pic and what I was inspired to make.

Partially open

Stuff I Used:
(it's a short list)
Base-White 12" x 12" cardstock
cut to 5 1/2" x 12"
scored at 2", 4", 8" and 10"
DP-Recollections Green Argyle
Faux stitching-Le Pen Olive Green
Sentiment-Computer generated

I got the idea for the folding of the card from a great book:

Folding Ideas for Cards & Envelopes
Laurence K Withers
Peplin Press
Agile Rabbit Editions

The theme is 3 shamrocks and 3 shades of green both in the inspiration pic and the card.  It just so happened that my photo stand background matched the background in the pic.

I enjoy the challenges at {Pin}spirational Challenges. Every week it's something that can be interpreted so many different ways just from a pic. Keep up the good work Deanne.

Cash tips are appreciated, but comments work too.

Birdie House

This week at the Hambo Hoedown, the image was "Birdhouse Estate". It was a great image to color.  Also the challenge was to add "Scallops". If you haven't played along before, check it out at http://hambochallenges.blogspot.com/.  Here is what I created.

Here's the card partially open

inside

Stuff I Used:
Image-"Birdhouse Estate" digital image by Hambo Stamps
Colored with Copics
Leaves-YG03, YG06
Tree-E11, E13, E15
Birdhouses-BG01, BG05, BG09, YG03, YG06
DP-DCWV Stack 8
Cardstock-Recollections
Scallop punch-Fiskars
Sentiment-Hambo Stamps digital
Faux stitching-Le Pen Oriental Blue
Clouds-Scrappy Cat Blueberry Blast ink

I colored the image with my Copics and then masked off the tree and birdhouses with Inkadinkado masking paper.  I cut a stencil and inked the clouds in the background. Cut out around the leaves and popped up the image on foam squares. Then popped up another pair of colored birdhouses on foam squares.  I punched the edge of the front flap with the scallop punch. And punched another piece of green paper to show on the edge. I colored a stripe of Oriental blue on the green strip to show through the holes in the top flap.

Hope you like what I've done and love to read your comments.

Irish Dancer

I got to play along again at "Imagine That!".  It's a progressive challenge.  Meaning, if you play along, follow the rules and submit your project before the deadline.  You are e-mailed the next image(s) for free.  This was the 2nd challenge at "Imagine That!" digis by Kris.  Check it out here.  This time it was an Irish Dancer theme.  I chose the "Kathleen" and "sentiment" for my card. I didn't go the traditional St Patrick's colors.

Stuff I Used:
Image-Kathleen Irish Dancer by Imagine That! digis by Kris
Colored with Copics
Skin-E00, E11
Hair-YR02, R24, E08
Dress-YG03, YG06, YG63, B21, B24
Socks-B91, C1
Gold knots on Dress-American Crafts gold gel pen
Sentiment-Imagine That! digis by Kris
DP-Core Couture Blue Diamonds, We R Memory Keepers White Out Collection Explore-Roam
Swirls-Le Pen Brown

I drew some brown (it looks black in the photo) swirls behind the image to mimic the swirls on the DP. The light blue panel behind the image is very sparkly, but doesn't show up much in the photo.

I enjoy the challenges at "Imagine That!". And the images are great to color.  Check it out and join in.

I think I heard Kathleen say that if you commented, she would come to your house and dance for you.
